Arturo Danusso in collaboration with other engineers devised a new structural system called a core system. This new typology makes it possible to relieve the stresses bearing on the perimeter, reinforced concrete pillar structure by channeling them within the reinforced concrete box core, rigidly grafted into the slab foundation. The two basement floors have slabs varying in thickness between 80 and 100 cm contributing, together with the wide wall partitions, to make the elevation structure more rigid and stable. The floors are made of ribbed reinforced concrete, cast in place inside metal formwork.
