Construction system:
\nThe church is articulated in a central octagonal plan covered by a large pitched roof,
\nsupported by six reinforced concrete pillars clad in bricks and closed at the upper
\nlevel by metal caps onto which the ends of the glulam beams that make up the roof
\nare fixed. The pillars are freestanding and are sized to withstand the lateral thrusts
\ndue to the weight of the pitched roof. The wall mass of the octagonal hall rises
\nthrough a highly refined embroidery of texture, where rows of rocky stones arranged
\nhorizontally or alternately inclined alternate with rows of roman bricks, which run
\nend to end in double rows, drowned in evident mortar joints. The box closes with a
\ncrowning of stones arranged in a knife shape, on which the glulam beams of the roof

La chiesa di S. Bonifacio \u00e8 opera dell’architetto tedesco Heinz Bienefeld, formatosi con Dominikus B\u00f6hm alla K\u00f6lner Werkschule e successivamente collaboratore di Gottfried B\u00f6hm ed Emil Steffan. Bienefeld, insieme ai B\u00f6hm, Steffan e Rudolf Schwarz, \u00e8 parte della grande scuola tedesca nel campo dell’architettura sacra del Novecento. <\/p>\n
\u201cLa tenda di Dio\u201d \u00e8 il termine con il quale nella Bibbia, specialmente alla fine del libro dell\u2019Esodo, si indica il luogo che custodisce i simboli sacri e di conseguenza simboleggia la \u201cpresenza\u201d divina e spirituale. L\u2019immagine della \u201ctenda\u201d \u00e8 diventata un simbolo sacro e architettonico. Allo stesso modo si pu\u00f2 interpretare la Chiesa di S. Bonifacio, come ricerca della forma perfetta di architettura. Bienefeld sottolinea la bellezza della sua opera nel dettaglio, annidato nella meticolosa attenzione della costruzione di soglie e di spigoli, nei punti di passaggio e di transizione, per quel ciglio impercettibile tra \u201cmondi\u201d differenti, tra dentro e fuori, vecchio e nuovo. Il raffinato segno di artigianalit\u00e0 \u00e8 manifestato nella sottile riflessione sull\u2019antico, nella dialettica tra l\u2019allestimento del muro ottagonale e la grande copertura. La ricerca esaustiva della forma esatta dell\u2019opera riesce a conferire un\u2019appropriata e precisa espressione e misura dell\u2019oggetto architettonico, permettendo anche al visitatore occasionale di riconoscere la totale sacralit\u00e0 e silenziosa bellezza di questa architettura.
